When I wanted some direct task lighting in my newly renovated kitchen halogen track lighting was the obvious choice. Along with being longer lasting, halogen bulbs give off a softer light that helps to reduce eye strain. A lot of the most modern track systems we saw included halogen bulbs. Best of all we were able to hang the new flexible track system ourselves.
Today's kitchens demand upgraded lighting. Many older kitchens rely on one single source of lighting in the center of the room. Today's home buyers are looking for updated and progressive lighting systems. Flexible track lighting can be used in place of a single light source. Flexible track can be bent to any desired shape. Any number of fixtures can be hung from a monorail system allowing you to focus individual pendant track lighting or low voltage halogen fixtures directly where you want light.
Low voltage halogen track strips are a great source of under cabinet lighting. Under cabinet lighting doesn't only enhance the look of a kitchen, it's another great source of usable light. There are many different companies that offer halogen lighting such as Phillips, Hampton Bay, Malibu Lighting, Lithonia, Thomas, Hinkley and many others. W.A.C. and Tech Lighting are two big sellers of low voltage track lighting. Some of these manufacturers are offering newer xenon bulb technology. These bulbs can last up to 10,000 hours.
Many homeowners are using recessed lighting in place of track lighting. Recessed lighting also offers an idea way to have direct task lighting anywhere in a home without much overall affect on the style or decor of a home. Recessed lighting offers a very clean and modern appearance.
The use of low voltage cable lighting means that you have a wide array of fixtures to choose from. There are many different types of pendant glass shades, as well as stylish and contemporary brushed steel lights. It's usually easy to find matching or coordinating pendant lighting to go with cable lighting.
Many homeowners are opting to purchase track lighting kits which offer everything needed for a complete installation. Most kits come with one, or two sections of track, a set number of lighting fixtures and an electrical junction box. Careful measurement and consideration on your part will help you to order the correct kit to give you the modern updated lighting you're looking for.
